Walt Disney World Resort has found a unique way to amp up the excitement for “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”. After the permanent closure of the original Tree of Life attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney has decided to offer fans a chance to take home a piece of park history.
In March, the original Tree of Life Theater 3-D attraction, It’s Tough To Be A Bug!, closed for good. At D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney Imagineering revealed that a Zootopia (2016) themed show would take its place. The new show is expected to include an advanced Clawhauser animatronic like the one featured in Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia: Hot Pursuit ride. The show will also feature a new song by Ginnifer Goodwin, who voices Judy Hopps in the original Disney film.

As part of this transition, Walt Disney World Resort has found a way to offer fans a lasting piece of the magic. As “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” prepares to debut, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is now selling collectible medallions inspired by the new Tree of Life show.
While the Zootopia attraction won’t officially open until late 2025, Walt Disney World Resort has already started giving fans the opportunity to own a piece of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park history. On July 28, WDWNT reported that four “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” medallions are now available in a machine outside the Riverside Depot store on Discovery Island.

The medallions come in four unique designs: Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Clawhauser, and a “Zoogether Day” logo featuring silhouettes of multiple Zootopia characters. YouTuber davidscointravels shared a video spotlighting the collectible coins, which are marked “limited edition” 2025.
Each medallion costs $6, or you can purchase all four for $20. The vending machine accepts cash and credit cards, but guests can only use credit cards to buy the complete set of collectible coins.
These medallions are described as a limited-edition “preview series” and are dated for 2025, but it’s unclear how long they will be available for purchase. Walt Disney World Resort guests can also buy official folding collector booklets and binders to keep their medallions safe while taking them home.

For those who are looking for more of these unique collectibles, Walt Disney World Resort offers hundreds of medallions across Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, and the Disney Resort hotels. Past collections have included designs inspired by Disney100 and the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebrations.

I have not a clue how many I have bought. Still have the ones I bought when they first started selling them along with my squash pennies.
