As Marvel fans get closer to the release of the highly anticipated feature Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a new trailer has been released that appears to introduce–or confirm–some of the characters. It appears that one of those characters is a variant of Agent Peggy Carter, known as Captain Carter.
First appearing in Marvel’s Disney+ original animated series What If?, Captain Carter came about when Marvel asked what would happen if Peggy took the supersoldier serum instead of Steve Rogers. One would assume that this was a one-off appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but as Kevin Feige and his creative team opened up the Multiverse to the fan base, seeing Captain Carter in live-action became all the more a possibility.
The clip has since sparked reactions from fans across social media.

Some reactions were just excitingly shouting the obvious like @therealsupes, who simply shouts, “WANDA FIGHTING CAPTAIN CARTER!”

But it appears that not everyone is excited about seeing Captain Carter and a significant contingent seems to think that it should be Sam Wilson’s Captain America stepping in rather than the variant of Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter.
@shellysierra907 tweeted, “I’m sorry Captain Carter is going on the big screen before the ACTUAL Captain America, Sam Wilson. That’s bullsh*t.”

While others more apparently thought that the clip confirming Captain Carter, as well as Professor X., and a Captain Marvel varient, was a spoiler rather than a trailer itself.
As @BattinsonMarvel pointed out, “Not y’all overreacting over a tv spot showing the cameos we’ve all known about for months… Captain Marvel and Captain Carter were literally on the poster.”
