Hogwarts is back in the spotlight, and fans are already buzzing over the newest wave of casting announcements for HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series.
John Lithgow, Nick Frost, and Paapa Essiedu have joined the roster as Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape, respectively, but all eyes are on the Hogwarts trio. Dominic McLaughlin will bring Harry Potter to life, Alastair Stout steps into Ron Weasley’s shoes, and Arabella Stanton takes on Hermione Granger.

What makes Stanton’s casting especially notable, though, is that she’s not just the next face of Hermione on screen — she’s also voicing the character in Audible’s upcoming Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions. She’s now the second actor in the Wizarding World to reprise a role in multiple formats, following Tom Felton’s return as Draco Malfoy in the upcoming Broadway version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Stanton, who starred in the West End’s Matilda, shared a peek into her excitement in a new short clip that by Audible across social media.

“It was very funny ‘cuz I got back from school and my parents said, ‘Right, we need to have a talk to you about your behavior.’ And I was like, ‘What have I done wrong?’ I was so nervous that they were gonna tell me off and I’d be, like, suspended from school. And they were like, ‘Okay, so you’re going to be playing the part of Hermione Granger in the [Harry Potter] audio-series.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I was so happy!”
She also demonstrated why she’s a natural for the role: “I think I talk quite like Hermione, and in audio you have to pronounce your words a lot. And so I think Hermione sort of over-does that because she talks very well.” And yes, she nailed the classic Sorcerer’s Stone line: “It’s Levi-o-sa, not Levio-SA!” You can watch the clip below:

In the audio editions, Frankie Treadway and Max Lester will play Harry and Ron alongside Stanton, while Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis will take over for Goblet of Fire. Hugh Laurie and Matthew Macfadyen lend their voices as Dumbledore and Voldemort.
The live-action HBO adaptation has no release date yet, but with Stanton joining a cast that includes Katherine Parkinson, Paul Whitehouse, and Janet McTeer, the magic of Hogwarts is primed to captivate a whole new generation of fans.
