Entire Magic Kingdom Land Will Be Closed To Visitors, Report Shares

It’s hard to imagine visiting Magic Kingdom and not being able to walk freely through a brand-new land, but that might be exactly what’s coming.

Villains Land is set to be one of the most exciting expansions in Disney World history, but there’s a big concern hanging over its arrival—Virtual Queues.

If Disney follows past patterns, guests may have to fight for a spot just to enter the land, not unlike what happened with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. When that system was in place, guests had to check the Disney app constantly, hoping they could secure a boarding group before the day was fully booked. Some people waited hours for their group to be called, while others never got in at all.

That kind of restriction works for a single ride, but for an entire land? That’s a recipe for disaster. Magic Kingdom already sees some of the highest guest volume in all of Disney World. If a portion of those visitors are waiting around for their boarding group, it’s going to create a ripple effect that impacts the entire park. Lines will grow longer for rides that aren’t even connected to Villains Land, foot traffic will become unbearable in other areas, and guests who didn’t get a virtual queue spot will be left frustrated.

And let’s be honest—virtual queues are stressful. They make a vacation feel like a high-stakes game where you either win or lose. One of the best parts of Disney World is the ability to wander and explore, but a virtual queue takes that freedom away. Imagine walking up to Villains Land, eager to experience its attractions, only to be turned away at the entrance because you didn’t wake up early enough to snag a reservation.

For now, Disney hasn’t officially confirmed that Villains Land will use this system. But history tells us it’s likely, and if it happens, it could turn one of Disney’s most exciting expansions into a logistical nightmare. The magic of walking into a new land for the first time could be replaced with frustration, and that’s not what a trip to Magic Kingdom should feel like.
