EPCOT Pulls Living With the Land From Schedule, Replacement Debuts Ahead of Plan

EPCOT’s agricultural boat ride has entered its seasonal transition sooner than anticipated, catching many guests by surprise. Living With the Land, a mainstay of the Land Pavilion, is now offline earlier than expected as Disney shifts the attraction into its holiday offering.

The timing marks an unusual change for an experience that typically follows a predictable seasonal rhythm. Living With the Land has long served as a calm counterpoint to EPCOT’s expanding thrill-ride lineup, and any disruption to its schedule draws immediate attention from fans.

The attraction sits at the heart of the park’s original mission, blending education with real agricultural research. For decades, the greenhouses have supplied ingredients to Garden Grill — one of the park’s most popular restaurants — and Sunshine Seasons, reinforcing the pavilion’s role within Walt Disney World’s broader sustainability initiatives.

Early Closure Brings Seasonal Shift

The classic EPCOT attraction Living With the Land is out of action, and earlier than Disney initially announced. Each year, the ride transitions into a holiday version, and décor began appearing inside the attraction earlier this week.

Disney noted that the seasonal experience would open on November 28. Guests, however, found that the holiday version was already operating almost a week ahead of schedule. The shift brought an early wave of festive touches to the pavilion’s greenhouses.

Disney has described the seasonal offering as a chance to “celebrate the most bountiful time of year with a special voyage through greenhouses decorated with dazzling lights.” The overlay adds holiday wreaths, lighting effects, and playful details — such as hidden Mickeys with reindeer noses and antlers — without altering the attraction’s core message.

For guests interested in exploring beyond the boat ride, the little-known Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses Tour is available for $59 per person. The one-hour program expands on EPCOT’s standard greenhouse tour while showcasing seasonal décor inside the agricultural spaces.

EPCOT’s Holiday Lineup Expands

The seasonal version of the attraction will run through December 30, 2025, aligning with the full calendar for EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. The festival brings a wide slate of offerings across the park, drawing guests into a mix of storytelling, entertainment, and global traditions.

This year’s lineup includes Santa Goofy Greeting at The Odyssey, a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus at CommuniCore Hall, and the return of JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season, which features music tied to both Christmas and Kwanzaa. Holiday Storytellers will again appear throughout World Showcase.

Food remains one of the festival’s strongest draws. Holiday Kitchens across the park include Le Marché de Noël in the France Pavilion, Yukon Holiday Kitchen in the Canada Pavilion, and Shi Wasu Holiday Kitchen in the Japan Pavilion, each offering seasonal dishes created for the event.

Living With the Land’s early seasonal shift offers a different rhythm for guests visiting EPCOT in the coming days. The attraction’s temporary closure — and the early arrival of its holiday counterpart — reflects how the park continues to adjust its long-running experiences to fit an increasingly busy festival calendar.
