Fans Campaign for Muppet Remakes of Disney Films, Especially ‘Beauty and the Beast’

The Muppets — unique puppets created by Jim Henson — are cinema icons with a special place in many Disney Fanatics’ hearts. Muppets like Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and Beaker have been particularly popular, and the Muppets have all starred in many films.

Now, the Muppets might be getting a chance to expand their fame even further; Disney fans have begun clamoring for Muppet remakes of classic animated Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast (1991), instead of the live-action remakes that have been boring audiences!

Muppet Beauty and the Beast?

A proposal regarding this idea has been gaining traction on social media, suggesting that Disney create Muppet remakes instead of the live-action remakes that have starred actresses like Emma Watson and Halle Bailey.

The proposal reads as follows on Instagram: “I’ll never understand why Disney is so focused on live-action remakes when they literally own the rights to the Muppets. I would take a Muppet remake of a Disney Animation classic over a live-action remake all day every day.”

Another Disney fan proposed that Disney make “Muppet Beauty and the Beast where the Beast is played by the only human actor and he turns into a Muppet at the end.”

Yet another Disney fan chimed in, adding that “the Beast should be a conventionally attractive actor whom the Muppet townspeople continually call hideous until true love releases him from this curse and he shows true beauty – blue felt and plastic eyes!”

With Muppets Mayhem on its way, the comedic Muppet characters are already on many movie and TV enthusiasts’ minds — and as another Disney Fanatic pointed out, “Muppet treasure island and treasure planet are both fantastic renditions of their source material, so there’s proof it’s more than possible.”

“Am I a Man, or Am I a Muppet?”

“They could even reuse that banger of a song ‘am I a man, or am I a muppet’!” another fan suggested enthusiastically.

Muppet Treasure Island certainly has become a cult favorite since its 1996 release, and the image of Miss Piggy playing Belle the Disney princess definitely matches the Muppets’ signature combination of intriguing and hilarious!

Would you rather watch Muppet remakes of Disney classics, or did the new Little Mermaid change your mind about Disney’s live-action adaptations?
