There are some Disney fandoms that only seem to get more popular as the years go on. One of those fandoms in The Muppets. The Muppets characters were created by the legendary Jim Henson in 1995. For almost five decades, Jim Henson and his Muppets delighted audiences around the world. Then, in 2004, The Walt Disney Company purchased the Jim Henson Company. From there, the Muppets skyrocketed, with Disney releasing a number of hit movies and television shows. Some of the most popular include The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, and Muppets Haunted Mansion.

Just over one year ago, we learned that Disney was creating another exciting Muppets series just for Disney+ subscribers. The show would be called The Muppets Mayhem and would focus on the hit band from The Muppets — Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. The Muppets Mayhem will be the first new Muppets show in almost a decade, and will show the band as they create their first-ever album.

Fans have been waiting months to learn more about the show, and now we have an official first look from Entertainment Weekly

Here’s more on what viewers can expect from this fun, new show.

The Muppets Mayhem centers on Nora (Lilly Singh), an aspiring record producer, who with the help of her social media influencer sister, Hannah (Saara Chaudry), and Electric Mayhem super-fan, Gary “Moog” Moogowski (Tahj Mowry), embark on helping the band record their first-ever album.

The idea for a series centered on the band began in perhaps an unexpected place when it comes to the Muppets — the Outside Lands music festival. In 2016, The Electric Mayhem played a set there, sparking Bill Barretta to wonder what possibilities the characters might have for further storytelling.

The Muppets Mayhem is being helmed by Jeff Yorkes, Bill Barretta, and Adam F. Goldberg. Goldberg is well-known within the Disney family. He is the creator of the semi-autobiographical hit series The Goldbergs, which ran on ABC from 2013 until 2023. Sadly, ABC recently announced that The Goldbergs would not be renewed for an 11th season. However, its cancellation leaves more room for Goldberg to focus on his new Muppets show.

At this time, The Muppets Mayhem does not have a premiere date set. Disney Fanatic will update readers when a premiere date is announced.
