Eleven different nations are currently represented at a permanent pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase at the Walt Disney World Resort: The Canada Pavilion, The United Kingdom Pavilion, the France Pavilion, the Morocco Pavilion, the Japan Pavilion, The American Adventure, the Italy Pavilion, the Germany Pavilion, the China Pavilion, the Norway Pavilion, and the Mexico Pavilion. But there is still room for more pavilions to be installed, and fans recently resumed the decades-long debate of which country should join the group.
Disney Fanatic reported last year that there were at least four other nations that were planning on joining the current eleven along World Showcase Lagoon, but that plan has since fallen through, and there is no word if they are ever going to appear. Click the link below to read more of that story.

So with the matter up in the air, some fans pleaded their case.
One said, “There are at least two spots that would work, but I don’t know if we’ll ever see new countries without sponsorship. Australia and Brazil are the two most obvious choices IMO. Neither part of the world is represented in the Showcase.”
Another seemed to agree, saying, “I’d like to see a country from south america. brazil comes to mind!!! make some brigadeiros and have a samba dance party every so often, similar to the drummers in japan and the dancers in harambe (animal kingdom)”
Another took a different turn, taking inspiration from Disney movies, and pitched “Greece and add in a Hercules ride. Peru and add Emperors New Groove.”
Others also submitted Russia–which was originally supposed to join–and India, and others suggested that the African Continent be better represented with something more than the basic Refreshment Outpost. Countries like South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and even Ghana were mentioned in the discourse.
It should be noted that with EPCOT constantly hosting a different International Festival of some kind, Disney World Guests are almost always going to be able to get a taste of more than just the eleven staple nations. Australia, Brazil, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, and even South Korea have all appeared at least once at the International Food and Wine Festival.
As EPCOT begins its 40th Anniversary Celebration and Walt Disney Imagineers continue to fulfill the promises made at the 2019 D23 Expo, only time will tell if any new nations step up to build a permanent pavilion.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Disney Parks news and stories as more developments come to light.
