The Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King has always been a Disney fan favorite in the Animal Kingdom Disney Park within Walt Disney World Resort, so fans were excited when the show returned to the Animal Kingdom after a break due to the pandemic. There was some disappointment since only some of the performers were involved, and the full show wasn’t back up and running in the Disney Park, but fans were still excited — and now, the Disney Parks Blog has confirmed that Disney Guests’ favorite feathered friends are returning to the crowd-favorite Animal Kingdom show!
It’s already been confirmed that the beloved Tumble Monkeys are coming back to the Festival of the Lion King. You can see them in the TikTok below! The Festival of the Lion King is known for its vibrant music (taken from the soundtrack of the 1994 animated Disney movie The Lion King, of course), incredible acrobats, and fun audience participation. Hearing that the show’s acrobats are coming back was great news!

We had suspected earlier this year that the show’s birds and aerial performers might be coming back, too, after seeing some thought-provoking auditions listed on the Disney audition website. The auditions called for female performers who had “excellent ballet technique, strong partnering skills, and the ability to perform at heights”, with the specific stipulation that they “may perform an aerial routine that involves flying in the air” — and that sounded like birds to us!
Now we’re happy to say that our prediction was correct! Since the Disney Parks Blog has indeed confirmed that the ‘birds’ in the show are coming back, aerial fun is back in the game for the Festival of the Lion King this year! Are you a big Disney fan who loves that particular Disney show, and loves the fun energy of its performers and acrobats?
