Disney and Lucasfilm have finally debuted the first trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu, and it’s loaded with hints that this Star Wars film will lean heavily on cameos — much like the hugely popular Disney+ series it’s adapted from.
The movie reunites Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter Din Djarin with Grogu, the beloved Force-sensitive child who continues to be affectionately referred to as “Baby Yoda” by fans.

The new footage is packed with action, along with some returning faces. Grogu is spotted tinkering with his Anzellan pals — a call-back for fans of Babu Frik in The Rise of Skywalker (although the species also appears throughout The Mandalorian Season 3).
The trailer also shows Imperial remnant AT-ATs, two unknown Hutts, Sigourney Weaver in a new role, and the Star Wars Rebels character Zeb Orrelios, who already made a cameo in The Mandalorian Season 3 but was missing from the live-action Ahsoka series.

Given how seasons two and three of the series leaned on appearances by fan-favorite characters — from Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) — it’s likely the big-screen feature will follow suit. But with that said, no other returning characters have been confirmed by Lucasfilm, and that includes Cara Dune, who was played by Gina Carano in the first two seasons.
Carano was famously fired by the company in 2021 for sharing divisive social media tweets. While she recently settled with them, there's no reason to believe she will reprise her role as the tough-but-tender ex-shock trooper in the film.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau, with Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni producing.
An official description from StarWars.com reads: “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu (as himself).”
The trailer also highlights the return of Ludwig Göransson’s theme, a new Razor Crest, and large-scale action set pieces meant for the big screen. Watch it below:
The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives in theaters on May 22, 2026. It's one of two confirmed Star Wars movies currently set in stone. Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, is set to land in May 2027.
