Disneyland Fireworks Left Inaccessible to Families

Families visiting Disneyland Park on Monday night anticipated watching the resort’s seasonal holiday fireworks spectacular, but Mother Nature had different plans. Heavy fog rolled across the Southern California theme park, rendering the nighttime show nearly impossible to see for Disney Park guests positioned along Main Street, U.S.A.

The “Believe…In Holiday Magic” fireworks proceeded on schedule during the evening of December 16, despite atmospheric conditions that severely impacted visibility. Unlike many previous occasions when Disneyland Resort has canceled fireworks due to weather concerns—particularly wind—the show continued even as dense fog blanketed the area.

One disappointed guest captured video footage of the obscured spectacle and shared it on Reddit. User u/OverCry518 posted the clip, which shows audible reactions from theme park visitors as they realized the fog had essentially eliminated their view of the pyrotechnics overhead.

Guests React to Unusual Decision

The decision to proceed with the fireworks despite poor visibility conditions sparked discussion among Disneyland Park fans online. Many noted the irony that the Southern California Disney destination frequently cancels shows for seemingly less severe weather issues.

“I’ve been there when they’ve canceled the fireworks for something seemingly less serious than this fog,” u/WanderingStarSoul wrote. “Weird that they would go on with the show in the fog.”

Not everyone viewed the situation negatively. Some Disney Parks fans expressed appreciation that Disneyland Resort chose to proceed rather than cancel entirely.

“I’m glad that they still set them off,” u/jrm1985 argued. “A lot of times any weather anomalies they’ll cancel the show.”

“Lmao considering I went 4 times in the past month and went 0/4 on fireworks due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, this is a W,” said u/Testicle_Eater_Tommy.

How Disneyland Fireworks Differ From Disney World

Disneyland Park operates on a different nighttime entertainment schedule compared to its Florida counterpart. While Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park launches fireworks above Cinderella Castle nightly, Disneyland Park only presents fireworks shows above Sleeping Beauty Castle on select evenings. This limited schedule requires both local residents and tourists to carefully plan their visits around when nighttime spectaculars will occur.

The resort rotates its fireworks programming seasonally, featuring different themed productions throughout the year. Currently, the “Believe…In Holiday Magic” holiday show is available to all ticketed Disneyland Park guests, unlike Magic Kingdom Park’s Christmas fireworks, which typically require separate admission to special events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Guests planning visits to Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park can access the most current entertainment schedules through the official Disneyland Resort mobile app or by consulting with cast members throughout the parks.
