Disney fans who hear the word Frozen will instantly think of the 2012 animated Disney movie or the 2019 sequel Frozen 2, as well as Frozen protagonists Elsa and Anna. Elsa’s iconic song and the power ballad “Let It Go” is certainly the most famous song from the Frozen soundtrack, but songs like “Into the Unknown” and “Show Yourself” became big hits from the movie’s sequel as well — but actor Jason Ritter has revealed that there was one more particularly “beautiful song” that never made it into the film!

In an interview on the D23 podcast recently, Jason Ritter (who is best known for his voiceover work in Gravity Falls and Amphibia) spoke about his role as Ryder in Frozen 2. Ryder is a reindeer-obsessed Northoldra boy who befriends Kristoff and Sven in the magical forest.

Ritter’s character doesn’t have many scenes in the movie, but he does speak a bit about his desire to see the sky in person after being trapped in an enchanted forest throughout his life — and apparently, that desire was originally part of a never-recorded Frozen 2 musical number!

The song was one that Jason Ritter said he only heard one time, and that now “just lives in [his] brain as a sort of fantasy”. “It wasn’t just a solo song,” he explained to D23. “[It was about] a whole bunch of people who were all talking about the things that we wanted in our lives.

The actor confirmed that his “character’s thing in that song” was “about never having seen the sky and wanting to see it”. Jason Ritter’s character Ryder apparently only had a solo that was two lines, but he said that it was “such a beautiful song.” “It’s just one of those things,” he added, referring to the casualties in a movie’s production. “We never recorded it, it was cut before that”.

Jason Ritter is also the son of John Ritter, the famous actor from Three’s Company (1977–1984) and 8 Simple Rules (which he starred in between 2002 and 2003 before his unexpected death). Did you recognize Jason’s voice from Gravity Falls once you heard him in Frozen 2?
