The Mandalorian and Grogu is gearing up to land in theaters on May 22, reuniting audiences with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and the beloved Grogu as the fledgling New Republic works to contain scattered Imperial warlords.
But while the latest trailer, which premiered on February 17, reveals returning faces like Zeb Orrelios, Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta, and Embo from The Clone Wars, with Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne joining the cast as new additions, several key characters from The Mandalorian (2019) are strangely absent.

Fans will notice a number of familiar characters missing, such as Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), to name a few.
Of course, the absentees include Cara Dune. Unsurprisingly, Gina Carano’s former shock trooper and New Republic marshal won’t appear in the film, following her 2021 firing after divisive social media posts and a subsequent wrongful termination settlement last year.
In fact, the character hasn’t been seen in any Star Wars media since being written out with a brief mention in Season 3.
Now, Carano is making headlines for another reason.
Per Deadline, the former MMA fighter, 43, is preparing for a high-profile return to the ring, facing Ronda Rousey in a Netflix-streamed fight on May 16.
This marks her first competitive match since retiring in 2009, and it’s turning heads in both the sports and entertainment worlds.
Whether or not Cara Dune will ever appear again remains up in the air, but the upcoming Star Wars film gives fans a chance to see Din and Grogu back in action on the big screen.
The Mandalorian’s cinematic leap might not include Carano, but she's preparing for another epic comeback no one saw coming. So never say never.

“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy,” the synopsis for the film on StarWars.com reads. “As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
