When Disney+ launched in late 2019, it quickly became a powerhouse of streaming, offering everything from classic Disney animation to exclusive originals. It served as a beacon for fans of Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and beyond—especially during a time when in-home entertainment was at an all-time high.
But with evolution comes change. Subscribers have already seen the platform undergo price increases and the quiet removal of several titles. Now, as Disney assumes complete control of Hulu, a deeper transformation may be underway—one that could redefine the streamer’s future, particularly with speculation of a merger or expanded integration between the two services.

Marvel’s live-action ventures on Disney+ continue to stand as key pillars of the platform. From the mind-bending WandaVision and action-packed The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to Loki’s Multiversal twists and Hawkeye’s holiday mentorship tale, the lineup is expansive.
Audiences were also introduced to new heroes and tones through Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Meanwhile, Secret Invasion saw the return of Nick Fury in a darker espionage narrative, Echo dove into Maya Lopez’s origins, and Agatha All Along further expanded the mystic side of the MCU.

Most recently, Ironheart brought Riri Williams to the forefront, spotlighting a new era of heroes empowered by technology. All these shows remain central to Marvel Studios’ ongoing storytelling strategy on Disney+.
Marvel’s Animated Streaming Channel Quietly Removed
But not everything Marvel is sticking around. According to The Direct, Disney+ pulled the plug on its curated Marvel Animated Rewind channel as of July 1, 2025.
“As of July 1, 2025, the ‘Marvel Animated Rewind' Streams channel no longer operates on Disney+,” the outlet wrote. “The streamer is filled with classic Marvel animated shows, including Spider-Man: The Animated Series and the original X-Men: The Animated Series from the 1990s, giving fans a look at Marvel's long history on TV.”

While those beloved animated series are still available on Disney+, the continuous playback channel—akin to a 24/7 stream of nostalgic hits—is no longer active.
“However, while those shows still run on Disney+, they can only be viewed on an individual basis moving forward,” The Direct added.
The Marvel Animated Rewind library had included 16 series, featuring standouts like Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man, and Silver Surfer. At this time, Disney has not commented on whether the streaming channel concept will return.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Marvel and Star Wars in 2025
In a recent mid-year sizzle reel teasing what’s to come, Disney+ shined a spotlight on a mix of dramas, returning hits, and sci-fi epics. Titles included All’s Fair—a new legal drama from Ryan Murphy starring Glenn Close and Kim Kardashian—along with Only Murders in the Building Season 5, Chad Powers starring Glen Powell, Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Alien: Earth.
On the Marvel front, the studio’s Wonder Man series, under the new Marvel Spotlight banner, was highlighted with a winter release window.

However, some notable absences from the reel raised eyebrows. Three previously announced projects were left out entirely: Marvel’s Marvel Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda, and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Visions–Volume 3.
Still, Marvel Zombies remains on track for an October 3 debut. The four-episode offshoot of What If…? will carry a TV-MA rating, aligning with the more mature tone also expected in Daredevil: Born Again. Meanwhile, Eyes of Wakanda, developed by Ryan Coogler and created by Todd Harris, is still targeting an August premiere. All episodes will drop at once, making it the first Disney+ entry in Phase Six, following The Fantastic Four: First Steps in theaters this July.
As for Star Wars: Visions–Volume 3, it may have been left out of the sizzle reel, but it’s still set for an October 29, 2025, release.
