Disneyland Resort has officially removed the former Tortilla Jo’s building from the virtual map of Downtown Disney, marking a major step in the district’s ongoing transformation. The removal signals the shift from the long-standing Mexican restaurant to two exciting new dining concepts: Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ. This significant change comes as part of Disney’s broader efforts to revitalize the Downtown Disney area and update its dining offerings for a more modern and diverse guest experience.

Tortilla Jo’s Closure Paves the Way for New Eateries
Tortilla Jo’s, a fixture in Downtown Disney since 2004, closed its doors on April 7, 2024, ending its two-decade run. Known for its festive atmosphere and signature Mexican dishes, the restaurant had long been a favorite for guests. The adjacent Taqueria remained open for a brief period, continuing operations until April 13, 2024, before it too shut down. With these closures, Disney has wasted no time in preparing the space for two brand-new eateries that will bring fresh dining options to the area.
The replacement of Tortilla Jo’s will see the opening of Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, a refined steakhouse offering a classic experience with prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, and sandwiches. The restaurant will feature an extensive bourbon selection and inventive cocktails, all served in a warm and sophisticated ambiance with a center bar as the focal point.

Alongside Arthur & Sons, Pearl’s Roadside BBQ will offer a quick-service option with a menu focused on modern barbecue inspired by traditional North Carolina cookouts. Guests can expect dishes such as pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked heritage turkey, all paired with house-made sauces. A dedicated Shine Bar will serve craft beers and moonshine cocktails, and the restaurant’s design will evoke the nostalgic feel of a vintage filling station, complete with a hand-painted mural and an expansive patio.
Construction Underway as Anticipation Grows
The removal of Tortilla Jo’s from the virtual map is a clear sign that construction has already begun for these two new dining venues. While Disney has not yet announced an official opening date, concept art and construction walls surrounding the space show advertisements for Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, further fueling excitement. This move is part of a larger strategy to revitalize Downtown Disney, which has seen several changes in recent years, including the closure of Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar and the forthcoming arrival of Porto’s Bakery.

As Downtown Disney continues to evolve, the addition of Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ promises to bring new and diverse dining experiences to the area. The removal of Tortilla Jo’s marks an important milestone in this ongoing transformation, with Disney signaling that the district will continue to evolve and offer new experiences for visitors in the near future.
