Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the newest attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort opens later this month in the former Universe of Energy location in EPCOT. While the new family thrill ride is currently running previews for select Guests (Walt Disney World Cast Members, D23 Members, Annual Passholders…) fans are anxiously awaiting their chance to ride, beginning on May 27, 2022. Once open to all Guests, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be available via a virtual queue, with no standby line available.
NEW: When Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT opens, a virtual queue will be in place. A regular standby queue will not be available.

Theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared the update from Disney to Twitter when the company confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open with a virtual queue. Virtual queues have been a divisive topic among Disney fans, with some fans preferring to have the ability to book their wait in line virtually, while many others would rather have the opportunity to choose a standby line instead.

When Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens, a standby line will not be available at all. As with other theme park attractions, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT, the virtual queue will be utilized for at least some time following the ride’s opening. In past cases, Disney has eventually altered the queue experience for new attractions to make standby available at a later date.

Along with the virtual queue, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be available for individual lightning lane purchases for Guests visiting EPCOT. Lightning Lane does help to ease some of the stress for Guests attempting to book a spot in a virtual queue however it does also have the ability to sell out quickly depending on the attraction.
