These Hit Songs Will Make Up the Soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

The official opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is just over one month away, and the newest attraction to arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort will do so with a stellar soundtrack! Classic pop music is one of the most memorable details in the Guardians of the Galaxy story, with Peter Quill (Star-Lord) having some excellent taste in music, so it is no surprise that the all-new attraction inspired by the films will feature a similarly catchy soundtrack.

The Disney Parks Blog just revealed the playlist for the attraction with six songs that were eventually narrowed down and chosen from an original selection of over 100 potential songs listed by Disney Imagineers. Much like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will feature multiple songs with each ride through, so you may hear a different soundtrack each time you ride.

To choose the six songs that made the cut, Disney Imagineers spent some time determining which tracks worked best with the movement of the new family coaster attraction, and they ultimately settled on “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps, “Conga” by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, “I Ran” by A Flock of Seagulls, and “One Way or Another” by Blondie.

Given the villain of the attraction, Eson the Celestial, the songs will be needed to give Guests and the Guardians of the Galaxy an extra dose of empowerment needed to, well, save the galaxy. Guests will be able to experience the full attraction with this amazing soundtrack, villain, and more when it officially opens on May 27, 2022, with previews for Cast Members, D23 members, and Walt Disney World annual passholders taking place in the weeks leading up to the ride’s opening day.
