Big theme park vacation destinations such as Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort are known for their utmost dedication to safety. And yet, accidents can still happen…

Please keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the ride vehicle…

That pre-ride warning seems to be as old as modern roller coasters and dark rides themselves, but it seems that people are still getting some of those body parts injured, even when they follow the rules.

We recently shared one reemerging story about a severed finger on Space Mountain at The Walt Disney World Resort. Now, another story has come out of Universal Orlando Resort concerning a damaged finger and a lawsuit.

According to FloridaPolitics.com, “Universal has recently settled two lawsuits over its pair of Orlando theme parks, according to court documents,” and one of them “ends the injury claim of a woman who says she lost part of her finger riding the King Kong ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.”

The woman’s lawsuit states that the incident occurred during a usual segment of Skull Island: Reign of Kong when the tram stops and shakes violently.

The plaintiff reportedly “placed her hand against the metal bracing in front of her” when two pieces of metal opened and closed on her finger, causing a “partial amputation.”

The incident took place in 2021, and the lawsuit was filed in 2022 for $100,000, mostly to cover medical expenses. A settlement was reached confidentially last month.

Neither Universal nor the plaintiff has issued a statement on the matter.
