A Walt Disney World injury can put a damper on any vacation day. But pair that with an unhelpful cast member and the Disney magic is certainly hard to find…
Walt Disney World Resort guests often have unrealistically high expectations and find their trips to be full of disappointing revelations — but this guest’s “unhappy surprise” at the Animal Kingdom involved a bloody wound!
Walt Disney World Injury Reported In Animal Kingdom
In a post on the website Reddit, a Walt Disney World guest revealed that they reportedly injured their arm when they “hit [their] elbow on the [toilet] paper dispenser” in an Animal Kingdom restroom.
They allege noticing “blood rolling down” their arm after accidentally taking “a chunk” out of their elbow.
“Biohazard Issues”
The distraught Disney Park guest “tried to clean it up in the sink“, but the bleeding was only getting worse.
They left the restroom to seek out a cast member and find a bandaid — but the most “unhappy surprise” of the day was actually the cast member’s indifference!
Allegedly, the cast member sent the injured guest to a gift shop to buy bandaids, instead of finding a first aid kit for them. “I’m literally bleeding in front of them, you’d think [with] biohazard issues they would be like ‘let’s get you cleaned up,’” the guest complained.
Since they were in a tough position, and still bleeding significantly, the Pandora visitor did have to buy the bandaids themselves. Then, the cast member insisted that they “bag up [the] bloody paper towels and wet wipe” themselves.
“So Much Pain”
“I sucked it up through FOP [Flight of Passage] because [of] our return time but was in so much pain that we went to first aid after,” the guest admitted. “They said it was deep and bad enough that if I wanted to go to the ER they would definitely stitch it up.”
“We opted out because of the expense but it’s insane this all happened,” the guest concluded. “Who would expect to get injured in a Disney bathroom?”

So I was in the bathroom in Pandora today and [accidentally] hit my elbow on the [toilet] paper. dispenser. I thought I just bumped it but as I was buttoning up my shorts I looked [at] my arm, I had blood rolling down it. [Somehow] I took a chunk out of my elbow. I tried to clean it up in the sink but ended up having [to hold] a paper towel to it as we looked for a CM to get a bandaid.
They directed me to [Avatar Flight of Passage] gift shop and to our shock, told us we would have [to pay] almost 3 dollars for a pack of bandaids or walk up to first aid which is way up by the [Tree of Life]. I’m literally bleeding [in front] of them, you’d think [biohazard] issues they would be like [“Let’s get you cleaned up.” Especially] since after we purchased the bandaids, they made me bag up my bloody paper towels and wet wipe.

I had a similar injury a couple of years ago but was treated by first aid after going to guest services and being told where the nearest first aid station was. This occurred in the land when I tripped on the stairs and injured my arm on an exposed bolt on the stairway. I have never been mistreated by a Disney cast member and I feel that the ones involved in this incident should receive additional training.
I wore new tennis shoes without socks to MK and I had raw blisters on both heels. In the tomorrow land gift shop the CM gave me a box of bandaids and a three pack of socks and I was wearing my Birthday button and she told me happy birthday, no charge.
