Guests Are Stunned by the New Look of Pop Century Resort

Guests walking into Disney’s Pop Century Resort right now are doing a double take — and for good reason. This beloved Value Resort, known for its over-the-top celebration of decades past, just got a modern makeover that’s turning heads. What was once a purely retro check-in experience has transformed into something sleek, vibrant, and surprisingly stylish.

A First Impression That Hits Different

Pop Century’s lobby has always been a bit of a time machine. But now, the second you step inside, you’re greeted by three bright check-in counters that instantly pop with color and personality. Each celebrates a different era: the 60s with teal and a cheeky “Neato” sign, the 70s with a playful swirl design, and the 80s/90s with a bold geometric pattern. It’s a total departure from the traditional long counter — and it works beautifully.

Beyond the counters, Disney has reimagined the entire lobby layout. A communal seating area with citrus-colored accents gives the space an airy, welcoming vibe. It’s easy to picture families hanging out here while waiting for their room or planning their park day.

A Family-Friendly Upgrade

One of the most talked-about additions is the kids’ area. Soft seating poufs, bright blue carpets, and a TV playing Disney classics create a cozy little corner designed just for the younger set. The wall design even mimics old TV screens playing favorites like The Jungle Book (1967) and Alice in Wonderland (1951). Right next to it, a comic-style mural with benches adds another playful touch.

Retro Charm Isn’t Going Anywhere

While parts of the lobby are already unveiled, other sections remain hidden behind curtains and scrims. A Minnie and Daisy mural is already up, but it’s clear more surprises are in the works. It follows a trend at the resort — earlier this year, the food court got a refresh, and guest rooms were updated with a cleaner, more modern design. Slowly but surely, Disney is turning Pop Century into something fresh without erasing its retro heart.

Why This Change Matters

This isn’t just about decor. It’s part of a bigger shift across Disney resorts. With more guests relying on mobile check-in, lobbies are being reimagined as gathering spaces instead of long, crowded lines. Pop Century’s new look leans into that future — and based on guest reactions so far, it’s a hit.

The bright colors, the playful theming, and the family-friendly vibe make this upgrade feel like a love letter to both past and present. For a resort that’s always been about celebrating the decades, this new look might be its best one yet.
