There’s a lot that goes into planning a day at a Disney theme park. What time do you want to get there? What rides and attractions are on the must-do list? What ride should you head to first? Where do you want to eat? Are there any characters you want to meet? Are you going to Park Hop? Will you pay for Disney Genie+ or just wait in the standby lines? As I said, there’s a lot that goes into planning your Disney day. For some people, one of the best parts about planning a Disney trip is thinking about what they will wear. A great Disney outfit can be the cherry on top of a fantastic day.
Over the years, one of the biggest outfit trends at Disney Parks is DisneyBounding. If you are unfamiliar with the term, DisneyBounding is when Guests take regular clothes and create an outfit that is reminiscent of a Disney character. Disney does not allow adults to wear costumes — except at events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Oogie Boogie Bash — so DisneyBounding is the way to go. Guests have gotten incredibly creative with their DisneyBounding outfits, and it’s always fun to see how people pay homage to their favorite characters.
Now, sometimes there are costumes that seem a little too close to the outfits worn by Disney characters. Those costumes can make Guests wonder if the person works for Disney or if they are just a regular Guest. That is what happened to two women who recently visited Disneyland Park.
According to a video shared by TikToker Teresa Jack, two women went to Disneyland, DisneyBounding as their favorite princesses — Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The women looked incredible in their outfits. Soon, Guests were asking the women if they could take pictures with them. The two women waved and politely informed the Guests that they were not princesses.

While it seems that the Guests may look like Belle and Ariel, there were several indicators that they did not actually work for Disneyland. For one, there were no uniformed Cast Members with the women. When a character is walking around Disney, they will have a handler with them to get them where they need to go and keep them safe. Second, one of the women was wearing sneakers, not something you’d typically see Ariel wearing. Lastly, the woman wearing the Belle-inspired dress had blue hair. Disney Princesses typically wear wigs and don’t have colored hair.
It is important to note that Guests are not allowed to wear full Disney costumes while in the Parks. Should you decide to wear a full costume, Disney may ask you to leave the Parks Again, costumes are only allowed during certain events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Younger Guests are allowed to wear costumes during their Disney Park day.
