For many Disney World fans, planning a fall trip isn’t just about picking dates—it’s about timing the discounts.
And right now, that timing feels uncertain.
We’re deep into April, and while Disney has already released its first round of fall savings, one key piece is still missing: room-only resort discounts for most of October. For guests hoping to visit during peak Halloween season, that absence is becoming harder to ignore.

What We Know So Far
Disney’s current promotion, “Save Up to 30% on Rooms in Late Summer and Early Fall,” covers arrivals from July 30 through October 3, 2026. That includes August and all of September, giving early fall travelers a clear opportunity to save.
But once that window closes, the deals disappear.
From October 4 onward, there are currently no room-only resort discounts available. That leaves a significant portion of Halloween season—especially the busiest weeks—at full price.
Why October Matters So Much
Halloween at Walt Disney World isn’t limited to just a few days. It stretches across months, with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party expected to begin in mid-August and run deep into the fall.
Still, late October is when demand peaks.
Families plan around school breaks, the party schedule becomes more frequent, and the parks lean fully into seasonal offerings. It’s one of the most popular times of year to visit—and typically one of the most expensive.
Without room discounts in place, those costs add up quickly.
There Are Deals—But Not the Ones Guests Want
It’s important to point out that October isn’t completely without savings.
Disney’s Free Dining offer includes arrivals from October 19 through October 31, 2026. For many guests, that promotion can provide substantial value, especially for longer stays.
But it’s not the same as a room-only discount.
Free Dining requires booking a full vacation package, including tickets and accommodations. It’s less flexible and doesn’t always fit how repeat visitors prefer to plan their trips.
That’s why so many guests are still waiting. They’re not just looking for any deal—they’re specifically watching for those traditional resort discounts.
Is This Actually Unusual?
The frustration is understandable, but the timeline itself isn’t out of the ordinary.
Disney has a pattern when it comes to releasing discounts. The first wave typically covers late summer into early October, while the second wave—targeting mid-October through the holiday season—arrives later in the year.
Last year, that second wave didn’t show up until July.
So while it may feel like Disney is dragging its feet, the reality is that the company is still operating within its typical release window.

Why Guests Are Still Feeling the Pressure
Even if the timing is normal, the uncertainty isn’t easy to ignore.
Planning a Disney World trip requires months of preparation. Resorts fill up quickly, especially during popular seasons like Halloween. Without clear discount options for October, guests are left in a difficult position.
Do you wait and risk losing availability? Or book now and hope a better deal appears later?
For many, that question doesn’t have a simple answer.
What to Do While You Wait
For now, the best strategy may be flexibility.
Booking a resort early can secure your spot, and if Disney releases a new room-only discount later, there’s often a chance to apply it to your reservation. That approach allows guests to stay ahead of availability while still leaving room for savings.
For those targeting late October specifically, patience could still pay off—but it may take a few more months before the full picture becomes clear.
No Clear Answers—Yet
At this point, Disney has done what it typically does in the early part of the year: release the first wave of fall discounts.
But the second wave—the one many guests are waiting on—hasn’t arrived.
And until it does, October remains a question mark for anyone hoping to save on a Halloween trip to Walt Disney World.
For now, guests are left watching, waiting, and hoping those missing resort deals show up sooner rather than later.
