After a Decade, a Big Halloween Party Change Creeps Into Magic Kingdom

There’s a certain rhythm to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Year after year, guests look forward to the same magical mix: the Boo-To-You Parade marching down Main Street, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular lighting up the skies, and trick-or-treat trails winding through the park. For more than a decade, the event has held onto its signature elements while sprinkling in just enough surprises to keep guests guessing.

But this year, that rhythm hit an unexpected note. The 2025 edition is packed with new entertainment and sold-out nights, yet it’s a quiet change behind the scenes that has people talking. After ten years, Disney has decided to shake up one of its longest-running traditions.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who have always greeted guests separately at the event, are now appearing together in Town Square Theatre. It’s a detail Disney confirmed only days before the first party began, and the decision has caught loyal fans off guard. For some, it’s a fun update that adds extra magic to the evening. For others, it marks the end of a setup that’s been consistent since 2014.

A Balancing Act of Old and New

Disney has always walked a fine line between honoring traditions and keeping experiences fresh. This year’s change underscores that philosophy. By bringing Mickey and Minnie together, Disney adds novelty without rewriting the entire event—but it also risks longer lines and nostalgia for the “old way” of doing things.

Everything Else Filling the Night

Beyond the big change, the Halloween party is still overflowing with offerings:

What makes Not-So-Scary stand out is the constant blend of the familiar and the unexpected. This year proves that even the smallest tweaks can send fans into a frenzy. Whether Mickey and Minnie’s reunion is temporary or here to stay, 2025’s party will be remembered as the year Disney wasn’t afraid to break tradition—just in time for Halloween.
