Last week, guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios faced unexpected disruptions as roughly one-third of the park’s rides suddenly ceased operations. Friday’s closures caused long wait times, overcrowded walkways, and frustration among Walt Disney World Resort visitors trying to navigate the suddenly limited attractions.
Reddit user u/rrsafety shared a screenshot from the My Disney Experience app revealing that three of the park’s most popular rides—Slinky Dog Dash, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Toy Story Mania!—had all abruptly stopped running.
“Some rides are not ready for prime time,” the guest lamented. “After a while, it’s ridiculous.”

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is known for its complex technology and sensitive sensors, which can be triggered by guests accidentally dropping personal items along the ride path. Frequent breakdowns are part of the attraction’s reputation. Still, this time, the simultaneous shutdown of Toy Story Mania! and Slinky Dog Dash worsened the impact on the Disney park’s overall flow.
Many fans voiced their disappointment online, seeing the closures as evidence of declining operational standards at Walt Disney World Resort.
“There has to be a standard for a company that charges as much as Disney,” u/TheManicac1280 commented. “It’s not just an ‘awe well it happens’ situation on a destination that demands an amount that takes months or even years to save for.”
“For what it costs to come here there’s no defending how often these rides are down,” u/killboypowerhed agreed.
Several guests recounted their own negative experiences with Disney’s Hollywood Studios attractions.
“Rise is a given to break down at least once a day,” said u/WeToLo42. “Although Toy Story Mania has been broken down or having a late start the last few times I visited.”
“Last week at Hollywood, Rise, slinky dog and Mickeys runaway were all closed when for park opening,” u/rimmera69 added. “Slinky dog was down until the evening before starting up and eventually going down again. Lots of unhappy people that morning.”
Still, some fans defended the parks, attributing ride issues to the complexity of the attractions and unpredictable guest behavior.
“Toy Story mania isn’t ready for prime time after being open almost 20 years?” u/funkyneat commented. “Rides are big, complex systems that break. It’s just a thing that happens.”
“Somewhere, somehow, this idea that parks are infallible and nothing is ever down in the past has spread,” agreed u/fathorse23. “… It’s definitely not true, anywhere.”
