Walt Disney World Resort has been quietly rotating artifacts through the Hall of Presidents lobby at Magic Kingdom Park all year, marking an unusually active stretch of updates for an attraction that is typically refreshed only when a new president takes office.
A Pattern of Frequent Updates
The Hall of Presidents reopened following its most recent major refurbishment on June 29, 2025. That update relocated the audio-animatronic figure of President Joe Biden and introduced a new animatronic of President Donald Trump, reflecting his return to the White House. Continuing a shift that began under President Biden, Walt Disney World Resort also shortened the sitting president's speech, with Trump now reciting only the Oath of Office during the show.
Since that reopening, the lobby's rotating display cases have seen at least four separate updates throughout 2026.
Changes Began in February
The first update came in February, when Walt Disney World Resort removed a basketball belonging to former President Barack Obama from the lobby's display case. The item had been on loan from the Barack Obama Presidential Library, and its removal likely coincided with the opening of the Obama Center in Chicago earlier this year, a museum that includes its own basketball court and presumably wanted the artifact back.
In its place, Disney installed an image of President John F. Kennedy alongside White House pony Macaroni.
May Brought Several New Additions
By May, Walt Disney World Resort had added multiple new artifacts to the lobby. A photo of Harry S. Truman in uniform during World War I, along with a WWI-era mess kit discovered in his sister's basement, replaced the section formerly dedicated to Obama's basketball. The mess kit arrived on loan from the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum.
The same display case also gained a photo of Gerald R. Ford playing football, plus an autographed football gifted to him by the Detroit Lions in 1977 — a nod to his nearly professional football career before he pursued law and eventually the presidency.
Disney also swapped out a dress in the First Ladies display case that month, replacing an item belonging to Rosalynn Carter with a dinner party dress worn by Bess Truman, Harry Truman's wife. Bess Truman's library card was added to the display as well.
A Third Update Came in July
July brought yet another change, this time adding a tennis racket that once belonged to President George H. W. Bush. The racket was a gift from South Korean President Roh Tae-woo during a 1992 visit, and the display also includes a photo of the two leaders together on a tennis court. Both items are on loan from the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.
That same month, the First Ladies case received another new gown: a dress, portrait, and hair comb belonging to Dolley Payne Todd Madison, wife of President James Madison. These items replaced a different dress that Madison herself had previously worn.
The Latest Change
Most recently, guests visiting Magic Kingdom Park this week discovered yet another new gown added to the First Ladies display case, according to WDWNT.
Curiously, Walt Disney World Resort left the identifying plaque for the previous dress in place, which had belonged to Lucy Webb Hayes, wife of President Rutherford B. Hayes. It's possible the new gown is a different dress, also connected to Hayes. However, it's missing a separate identifying placard like the other artifacts in the case, suggesting Disney may not have updated the signage yet.
Despite this steady stream of lobby changes, the core Hall of Presidents itself has remained unchanged since its reopening last year.
