The Harry Potter universe continues to expand with exciting new projects for fans to look forward to. Following a rollercoaster of events in recent years, there’s more magical content on the way.
While Fantastic Beasts struggled to live up to expectations set by the original series, Hogwarts Legacy defied expectations and dominated the gaming world, despite calls for a boycott due to creator J.K. Rowling’s controversial views. Her stance on gender identity and transgender issues sparked fierce debates, dividing the fandom.
The initial backlash ignited when Rowling liked a tweet that referred to trans women as “men in dresses,” and since then, she’s only doubled down on her opinions, creating tension among fans and the broader community.
Regardless of the sentiments towards Rowling, Warner Bros. is pushing ahead with more Harry Potter projects.
Coming up soon is a complete Harry Potter reboot. The new series, which will air on HBO, will adapt each of the seven books into a season with a totally new cast. Filming for the series is set to begin in the UK this summer, bringing a fresh take to the beloved Wizarding World.
While there’s speculation that more projects may be on the way, with some hoping for a Marauders series, no official announcements have been made yet.
Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking Renewed For Season 2
One project fans can look forward to is the return of Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking for a second season on the Food Network.
James and Oliver Phelps, known for their roles as Fred and George Weasley, host a baking competition where professionals craft dishes inspired by the Wizarding World.
Set against backdrops like the Great Hall and Platform 9¾ – filmed in the same studio as the films – the show has resonated deeply with fans. Its debut season premiered in November, drawing over 16.4 million viewers across platforms such as linear TV, Max, and Discovery+, according to Warner Bros. Discovery, sparking the show’s renewal (via Deadline).
Alongside the Phelps brothers, stars from the Harry Potter films, including Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick/Griphook), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), made guest appearances. Culinary judges Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef lent their expertise throughout the series, which has been well-received by viewers.
“James and Oliver were great hosts,” wrote one Wizards of Baking viewer on Reddit. “I personally don’t have a clue what they’ve been doing since Potter ended, but someone should scoop them up to host more shows.”
Another fan wrote: “I’ve been a big Harry Potter fan since the beginning and thought they did a good job and integrating the books while also focusing on the baking. Oliver and James did a great job as hosts. I would love to see more of them.”
