When you spend $120 on a single-day ticket to Walt Disney World Resort, you expect a day full of magic, wonder, and unforgettable memories. Unfortunately for one guest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, their experience took an unexpected turn when a wild bird decided to make its mark—literally.
The unfortunate incident was shared by u/Shot_Tangelo375 on Reddit in February, detailing their experience getting pooped on while walking from the Kilimanjaro Safaris to Expedition Everest. While this wasn’t the kind of souvenir anyone expects to get at Walt Disney World Resort, the way the cast members handled it offers a unique glimpse into the creative side of Disney hospitality.
Well… I got pooped on by a bird at Animal Kingdom. They said it was good luck?

As the guest walked through the park, they saw a “large blue bird” and didn’t think much of it—until something unexpected hit their head. “I really looked at fiancé and said ‘please tell me that was a huge rain drop?’” the guest recalled.
Unfortunately, it was bird poop, which ended up in their hair–not exactly the type of magical moment Walt Disney World Resort is known for. The guest rushed to the bathroom to clean up, where they were met with sympathy from other guests.

“The ladies in the bathroom were kind but horrified,” the guest shared. “…’ What do you mean? Aren’t they trained?!’ Was my favorite response… Saw that same lady buying a hat after.”
The guest didn’t let the unpleasant surprise ruin their day. After notifying Guest Services, the cast members told the guest that getting pooped on by a bird is considered “good luck.” To top it off, the guest received an “I’m Celebrating” button with the cheeky message, “It wasn’t a rain drop….”

Despite the mishap, the guest wasn’t upset with the cast members and didn’t feel entitled to any free compensation.
“I think he was relieved I wasn’t trying to be a Karen about it,” they wrote. “Birds=poop it’s a chance I took buying a ticket.”
The Reddit thread sparked several responses from other Disney fans who had similar experiences.

“This happened to me at Disneyland,” u/red8ball wrote. “Three times. Same general area. The second time talking about the first time. And the third time talking about the first two times.”
“Happened to me in Frontier Land at the Magic Kingdom many years ago,” u/HotWalrus9592 replied. “I learned to never sit underneath a shade tree with birds in it. Very memorable!”

Last year I took a horrible tumble. My kids call it my Superman moment as I literally went flying. Cast members rushed to my aid instantly and were calling an ambulance. I was able to get up and limp away, we had Tower of Terror times! I did end up in the first aid dept and I can’t say enough in their favor. The Disney team cleaned up my cuts and bandaged me up. They also gave me a small supply of Tylenol bandages and cold packs. Their care kept me going for the rest of the trip.
