Ice Removed From Disney World – What You Need To Know

Not many Walt Disney World Resort guests know that, a few years ago, the Central Florida destination updated its policies, officially banning loose ice at its four theme parks.

TikTok user @mimimouseears recently reminded fans of the rule in a popular video, explaining that loose ice is no longer allowed at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

“Yep, you can’t bring loose ice into Disney World. Not a joke,” the TikTok user said. “It slows down security. It melts and creates slippery puddles. It can hide banned stuff (like alcohol).”

In the video, the TikToker suggests that Disney Park guests bring sealed or reusable ice packs as an alternative. “But your Yeti [cooler] full of cubes? That’s a no,” they added.

While this rule may sound restrictive, it’s designed to make the bag-check process more efficient and reduce congestion at the entrance. Walt Disney World Resort explains that this change was necessary “in order to improve guest flow, ease congestion and streamline the bag-check and entry processes.”

This restriction only applies to loose and dry ice. Guests who need ice for medicinal purposes or baby food can still visit Quick Service dining locations for a free cup of ice. Reusable ice packs are recommended for keeping drinks cold, and guests can still bring coolers to the Disney parks.

Despite the ban on loose ice, Walt Disney World Resort still permits guests to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into the parks as long as they comply with the park’s size and item restrictions. Coolers must be no larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm), and guests are encouraged to use reusable ice packs to chill their items.
