Drenched Disney Guests Stuck on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Overnight

Disneyland Resort guests experienced an unexpected, uncomfortable moment on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure last week when the ride abruptly shut down after midnight. Two riders found themselves trapped on the attraction after it stopped running, leaving them soaking wet as they waited for the situation to resolve.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which opened on November 15, 2024, is Walt Disney Imagineering’s reimagining of the former Splash Mountain, shifting from its controversial Song of the South (1946) theme to one inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009). After debuting at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park, Disneyland Park’s version opened just five months later in the newly renamed Bayou Country (formerly Critter Country).

Like many new attractions, both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort versions of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure have had their operational hiccups. While the Magic Kingdom’s version experienced some early difficulties with cast member and Annual Passholder previews, Disneyland Park’s attraction seemed to have a smoother start, though it has also faced brief interruptions since opening.

After about ten minutes, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure resumed operation, and the guests were able to continue their ride.

Despite the inconvenience, “I’d do it again,” Erica said.

Disneyland Resort typically refrains from issuing public statements regarding minor ride interruptions like this, and no official comment was made regarding the specific cause of the temporary shutdown. However, the log flume ride reopened shortly after the incident and was reported to be operating normally by the time of this article’s publication.

  1. We were in the front row of the rock ‘n’ roll roller coaster and when it counted down to launch forward, the car just didn’t move. All the lights came on and they evacuated us off of the ride. I was so nervous about getting out of my seat, because I thought for sure the second I stood up it would launch 😂 they gave us fast passes which was very nice!

  2. Me and my 9 year old were set to ride the incredicoaster at Disneyland Resort. We took off as per normal, but got stuck at the highest point of the coaster for about 20 mins before we were greeted by staff who wrapped carabiners around our bodies and then instructed to walk (all together in a connected carabiner line) down a narrow path along the backside of the coaster. I never want to experience that again!!!
