Hundreds of Muppet*Vision 3D Artifacts Spotted in a Dumpster

It’s been just three days since the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D, and fans are already mourning the loss of the beloved attraction. On June 7, 2025, the iconic show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios bid farewell to its audiences for the final time. Thousands of Disney Parks fans packed into the park, lining up for one last chance to see the Muppets in action. The queue stretched all the way to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, keeping fans waiting for hours.

The closure of Muppet*Vision 3D wasn’t surprising. Rumors had swirled for months, with whispers first emerging during D23 Expo 2024. During the event, Walt Disney Imagineering announced plans for a new Monsters, Inc. (2001)-themed land and roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Concept art suggested that this new area could potentially replace Muppets Courtyard or Animation Courtyard, fueling a passionate fan campaign to preserve Jim Henson’s final project.

Despite the protests, Walt Disney Wolrd Resort made its decision, and the Muppets were set to leave. The closure of Muppet*Vision 3D, along with Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and PizzeRizzo, was officially confirmed. As sad as it was for fans, Disney also announced a new direction for Henson’s creations in the form of a Muppets Mayhem retheme of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, slated to open in 2026.

With the closure still fresh, fans are grieving the loss of the 34-year-old attraction. And what could be more upsetting than seeing pieces of the beloved show discarded?

X (formerly Twitter) user @PatTheThief recently shared a photo showing dozens of Muppet*Vision 3D seats thrown into a dumpster at Walt Disney World Resort. The image sent shockwaves through social media, especially for Jim Henson fans, who were heartbroken to see such a large part of the attraction’s history cast aside.

However, it’s important to note that these seats are not part of the current Muppet*Vision 3D theater setup. Disney is hosting a cast member-exclusive party to celebrate the attraction on June 10, 2025, and it’s unlikely that they would remove the seats before this event. The seats in question are actually from 2023, when Disney replaced all of the seating in the Muppet*Vision 3D theater. The current seats will likely be repurposed, possibly with new upholstery, for a future Monsters, Inc. attraction.

While the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D marks the end of an era, fans can take comfort in the fact that Disney has promised to preserve the attraction in some way. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t shared many details about the preservation project or the opening date of the Monsters, Inc. land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
