Incident Reported At Six Flags, Dramatic Flooding Hits Theme Park

Guests caught a dramatic incident on camera yesterday at Six Flags.

The past few years have been huge for Six Flags. After a merger with Cedar Fair – which saw both parties’ theme parks, including the likes of Knott’s Berry Farm and Cedar Point – fall under the Six Flags banner, the group has gone on to conduct a swathe of sudden ride closures.

Kingda Ka, the world’s tallest roller coaster, closed abruptly at Six Flags Great Adventure last year, with Six Flags declining to inform the public of its decision until it was too late. It’s since also axed Six Flags Great Adventure’s Green Lantern, Nighthawk at Carowinds, Anaconda at Kings Dominion, La Vibora and El Diablo at Six Flags Over Texas, and Time Warp at Canada’s Wonderland.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, it confirmed plans to permanently close Six Flags America and its water park, Hurricane Harbor, plus mass layoffs.

“As part of our comprehensive review of our park portfolio, we have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan,” Six Flags said CEO Richard A. Zimmerman. The park is slated to close for good on November 2, 2025.

Incident Reported at Six Flags Magic Mountain

While Six Flags is trying to conduct mass money-saving measures, one park had to contend with a much more pressing problem yesterday.

According to images shared on Reddit, the Southern California theme park experienced sudden onset flooding near Jet Stream.

As per other guests, the ride was closed yesterday, as were the nearby attractions West Coast Racers and Apocalypse. The area also reportedly experienced a similar flooding incident in 2024, with one guest claiming that it nearly swept them away.

While the exact cause is unclear, fans have theorized that it was caused by a water main break.

Other Flooding Incidents at Theme Parks

We’ve seen a string of flooding incidents hit theme parks in recent years. Last July, a thunderstorm caused a flash flood at Dolly Parton’s beloved Dollywood, which saw several guests unable to reach their cars as the Tennessee theme park was abruptly closed for the day.

Dollywood later issued a statement in which it emphasized that guests were “directed… to safety during the storm” and that one person sustained a minor injury.

“Dollywood is supporting guests whose vehicles were affected by this weather event, and clean-up crews have been deployed,” the park said.

That same month, a flood at Valleyfair – which falls under the Six Flags banner since its Cedar Fair merger – from the Minnesota River forced the closure of three rides. A month later, Magic Kingdom Park guests at Walt Disney World Resort were also left trekking through ankle-deep water after a storm.
