For a who dreams of visiting of visiting Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, that dream can once again come true! After years of living through the COVID pandemic, Japan has officially opened its borders to welcome international travelers into the country again, allowing Disney fans to enjoy the Disney magic overseas.
Earlier this year, the Japanese government updated its travel policies, making it easier for international travelers to visit the country by modifying some entry requirements. As of June 10, Japan had been opened to travelers from the United States of America and 97 other nations, although visitors would need a visa.

In the latest development, The Japan Times reported that starting October 11, Japan will allow visa-free, independent tourism and remove the established daily arrival cap. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made the long-awaited announcement during a recent visit to New York at the U.N. General Assembly.

Here’s what travelers to Japan need to know:
They must be vaccinated with at least three doses or submit a negative COVID-19 test result ahead of their trip, per Kyodo News, which cited government sources.
In addition, the government will launch a nationwide travel discount program that had previously been shelved due to the spread of COVID-19 infections; as Prime Minister Kishida said at a news conference, “I hope many people will utilize it. I want to support the travel, entertainment, and other industries that have been struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.”
The travel program will also begin on October 11 and will offer discounts for travel, entry to Theme Parks, sporting events, and concerts. According to a report, travelers with three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or who submit a negative test result will be eligible for the discounts.
