Another Cast Member of Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has come out to tell the would-be audience that they should be expecting even more changes to the original animated story.
There are a lot of aspects to Disney’s upcoming Little Mermaid story that will be different from the 1989 Animated Classic, from the look of the cast–Sebastian actually looks more like a crab than a sassy Jamaican–to the songs being changed. Disney Fanatic recently reported that the movies leading actress, Halle Bailey, was attempting to change one of the major plot points of the movie, explaining that Ariel will not be turning into a human just for a boy (click the link below to read more on that story). Now, actor Jonah Hauer-King discloses that he is looking to add some depth into his own character Prince Eric.

“The objective was trying to honor and respect the film that we loved 30 years ago, and bring everything that we fell in love with in the first place, while also trying to breathe some new life into it,” he explains. “I think that was true of Prince Eric. Trying to understand who he is, and trying to bring some four-dimensionality to him, was the challenge.”
Hauer-King’s Prince Eric and Bailey’s Ariel lead a cast that includes Javier Bardem as King Triton, Awkwawfina as Scuttle, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian the Crab, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Melissa McCarthy as the evil sea witch Ursula.
