Brand-New ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel Arrives — Here’s What We Think

As Jurassic fans await the release of Jurassic World Rebirth, many are turning to Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 for an exciting expansion of the franchise.

The animated side of the Jurassic franchise–which includes the initial series, Camp Cretaceous–has done well in tying itself into the Jurassic World films. But does the latest season of Chaos Theory live up to the blockbuster magic fans expect from the series?

Chaos Theory Season 3 picks up with Darius Bowman (Paul-Mikél Williams), Ben Pincus (Sean Giambrone), Yasmina Fadoula (Kausar Mohammed), Kenji Kon (Darren Barnet), Sammy Gutierrez (Raini Rodriguez), and Brooklynn (Kiersten Kelly, the lovable Camp Cretaceous crew, diving deep into a conspiracy involving the black market for dinosaurs.

The new season connects tightly with the latest film in the series, Jurassic World Dominion (2022), particularly through the return of characters like Soyona Santos (Dichen Lachman), Barry Sembène (Evan Michael Lee), and Lewis Dodgson (Adam Harrington), which adds a layer of continuity between the animated and live-action universes.

However, there are moments when the emotional dynamics between characters, especially their relationships, can feel a little forced and slow down the pacing. While these moments might appeal to a younger audience, they don’t always pack the punch.

Where the season shines is when it digs into the action and chaos that Jurassic is known for. The team’s journey takes them to Malta, a key location from Dominion, where the battle between dinosaurs and human antagonists is incredibly thrilling to say the least.

Fans will appreciate seeing the Atrociraptors in action, a more natural breed of predator compared to the over-the-top hybrids we’ve seen before.

Season 3 of Chaos Theory offers a compelling case that the series can hold its own, setting up future crossovers and ensuring that the Jurassic World franchise remains as vibrant and engaging as ever.

But as we look ahead to Jurassic World Rebirth, the seventh film in the franchise which stars Scarlett Johansson, the question on many fans’ minds is whether the animated series can keep pace with the big-budget spectacles of the live-action films.

With Rebirth set for release on July 2, the groundwork laid by Chaos Theory is sure to influence the next chapter in some interesting ways. If you haven’t tuned into Season 3 yet, now is the time to catch up before the next major chapter in the Jurassic saga drops.
