‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Could Shape Universal Studios GB’s Rumored Themed Land

Universal Studios Great Britain is officially in the works, and while the resort hasn’t revealed its themed lands yet, rumors are already pointing to some big names.

Alongside Harry Potter and James Bond, a Jurassic area is reportedly under consideration. If that’s true, then the timing of Jurassic World Rebirth couldn’t be more relevant.

Set to open in 2031, Universal Studios Great Britain will be the company’s first European resort. Unlike its parks in Orlando, Hollywood, and beyond, this one doesn’t have to follow any existing blueprint. That gives Universal the rare chance to build a Jurassic land that isn’t tied to the tropical aesthetics of Isla Nublar or the resort-style layout from Jurassic World.

And with Jurassic World Rebirth arriving in theaters in July, that clean slate might come in handy. The upcoming film takes the franchise in a darker direction. Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, part of a covert team sent to retrieve dinosaur DNA from a remote island once used by InGen. But there, they come face to face with mutant dinosaurs.

Among the creatures is the Distortus Rex, a malformed, six-limbed predator. There are also the Mutadons, flying dinosaur-raptor hybrids. All of that gives Universal an opening. If a Jurassic land does come to Universal Studios Great Britain, it doesn’t need to copy what’s already been built elsewhere. Instead, it can draw from Rebirth’s setting—a crumbling island lab, dense jungle, underground tunnels, and new genetic horrors.

Universal Studios Great Britain could easily adapt some of the set pieces from the film, including the infamous T-Rex river-rapid scene that’s been adapted from Michael Crichton’s “Jurassic Park” novel. Equally, there are other scenes that are bound to become iconic, particularly those including the film’s “colossal dinosaurs”, such as the boat sequence teased in both trailers, which involves several Spinosaurs and a Mosasaurus.
