Jurassic World Rebirth is introducing something far more sinister than genetically engineered dinosaurs—it’s peeling back the layers of InGen’s past, revealing just how far the company went in its pursuit of prehistoric perfection.
The film’s first official trailer offers plenty to dissect, but one sequence stands out as potentially one of the most important in the franchise’s history. At 1:51, we see two InGen scientists in hazmat suits trapped inside what appears to be a containment facility. One is frantically pounding on the glass, desperately trying to escape, while behind them, a towering, monstrous new dinosaur closes in.

The context behind this scene is what makes it so compelling. Unlike previous Jurassic films, which largely focus on the modern consequences of genetic engineering, Rebirth is taking audiences back to a time before Jurassic Park even existed.
In a recent Vanity Fair exclusive, director Gareth Edwards has already confirmed that the creature seen in the trailer is one of InGen’s failed experiments, described as a mutation inspired by the Rancor (Star Wars) and the Xenomorph (Alien). But the big question is: how long has this creature been on the island?
The trailer implies that this abandoned facility isn’t a recent discovery—it’s been left to rot for decades. That would mean that before the events of Jurassic Park, InGen had already been experimenting with extreme mutations, long before the Indominus Rex or the Indoraptor became the franchise’s most infamous genetic hybrid monsters.

But while the dinosaurs endure, the familiar faces of the past do not—there’s no return for Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Chris Pratt, BD Wong, Bryce Dallas Howard, or Isabella Sermon in this latest installment.
