The Jurassic franchise has never been afraid to kill off beloved creatures, but Jurassic World Rebirth may have gone further than anyone expected. The film's official synopsis suggests that the film could have quietly written out two of the series’ most famous dinosaurs—Rexy and Blue.
Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, the latest entry in the saga paints a bleak picture for dinosaurs still roaming the planet. The official synopsis states that Earth has become “largely inhospitable” to them, with only a few isolated regions still capable of supporting prehistoric life. If that’s the case, where does that leave Rexy, the towering T. rex who has ruled over the franchise since Jurassic Park (1993)? Or Blue, the Velociraptor who defied the odds by forming an emotional bond with Owen Grady?

Both dinosaurs appeared to get their happy endings at the end of Dominion, with Rexy securing her place in Biosyn Valley and Blue finally living free in the Sierra Nevada wilderness. But with Rebirth undoing much of the status quo established in the previous film, there’s a growing concern that their fates may have been sealed off-screen.
Leading the new film is Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett, a covert operative on a mission to extract genetic material from three massive dinosaurs. When her team encounters a shipwrecked family on a remote island, they stumble upon an even darker secret—one that may be tied to the franchise’s most twisted experiments.

With no returning characters confirmed, Jurassic World Rebirth is positioning itself as a fresh start for the series. But does that mean saying goodbye to two of the franchise’s biggest stars? Fans will have to wait until July 2, 2025, to see if Rexy and Blue make it out alive—or if Jurassic World Rebirth has officially turned the page on the past.
