‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Sequel Brings Back Mutant Dinosaurs, Trailer Confirms

The Jurassic Park franchise has always extended far beyond the big screen. While the films remain the centerpiece of the franchise, Universal has continued to expand the universe through tie-in novels, animated TV shows, theme park attractions, video games, and more.

In recent years, fans have seen the story continue in tie-in books such as the Maisie Lockwood Adventures novels, while animated projects like Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory have explored corners of the timeline that the films barely touched.

Jurassic World Has Also Been Successful in Gaming

The gaming side of the franchise has proven just as successful, particularly through Frontier Developments' park management series Jurassic World Evolution, which allows players to build and manage their own dinosaur attractions. The series now has three installments to its name.

Now, one of the franchise's newest chapters appears set to receive an interactive continuation. The first teaser for an upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth DLC expansion for Jurassic World Evolution 3 has surfaced online, confirming the return of the film's third InGen island, ÃŽle Saint-Hubert, along with the return of its most terrifying mutant dinosaur creation, the Distortus Rex.

Jurassic World Is Slowly Replacing Jurassic Park

It's becoming increasingly obvious that the World side of the franchise isn't going anywhere. Now, it seems Universal is committed to expanding the new lore established in the latest film. Last summer, Jurassic World Rebirth grossed $869.1 million worldwide, which all but guaranteed another sequel for the Jurassic series.

Now, while fans wait to learn whether Rebirth will get a direct cinematic sequel (reports claim one is in early development), Jurassic World Evolution 3 will keep that film alive in other ways.

Meanwhile, the Park side is set to return in the same format, as Saber Interactive is working on Jurassic Park: Survival, a first-person action-adventure game set immediately after the events of Steven Spielberg's 1993 film. The game follows an original story on Isla Nublar, offering fans a long-awaited chance to experience the aftermath of the original park's collapse firsthand.

Until that game arrives, though (there's no release date yet), it seems the franchise is about to lean even harder into the World era.

Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth Expansion will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S from June 16. Visit the official website to find out more.
