‘Jurassic World Rebirth 2’ Could Be a “Battle Royale”-Style Sequel

Warpath: Jurassic Park (1999) abandoned survival and exploration entirely, instead placing players inside enclosed arenas where dinosaurs were the fighters. The roster included Tyrannosaurus rex, Spinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Velociraptor, Ankylosaurus, and many other species, each battling across thrilling environments loosely inspired by the films.

At launch, it was met with mixed reviews, with criticism aimed at its limited mechanics and rough presentation. Over time, however, it has become a cult curiosity within the franchise’s gaming history — remembered less for how it played, and more for what it attempted. But what makes it more interesting today is how closely its central idea aligns with where the wider franchise has drifted in recent years.

Dinosaur combat has long become a recurring feature of the series. Jurassic Park III (2001) introduced the controversial Spinosaurus versus T. rex fight, Jurassic World (2015) escalated it into multi-creature “royal rumble”-style battle involving Rexy, Blue and the Indominus rex, and Jurassic World Dominion (2022) expanded it further with large-scale clashes and underground dinosaur matches in Malta.

Meanwhile, fans continue to speculate about where the franchise goes next following last year's Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), which grossed $869.1 million worldwide but shifted the series back toward a more contained island structure rather than continuing the global dinosaur premise established earlier.

Reports have suggested a new Jurassic World installment may already be in early development at Universal Pictures, with Gareth Edwards and Scarlett Johansson both linked in early discussions. But nothing has been officially confirmed.

If the franchise does continue, however, and there's no reason to think it won't, the question becomes whether it repeats familiar ground again or pushes into something more radical. Whether that's Ice Age beasts, human–dinosaur hybrids, dinosaurs in space, or finally, a prehistoric “battle royale” affair, remains to be seen.

For now, Universal has not confirmed whether another Jurassic World movie is officially in development.
