LEGOLAND Florida Resort has decided to close due to the approaching Hurricane Milton. Originally intending to remain open, the park reversed its stance to prioritize the safety of both guests and staff. This shift came in light of the hurricane’s life-threatening forecasts and an increase to Category 5 winds.
The closure will be in effect on October 9 and 10 as the resort prepares to weather the storm. Guests planning to visit during this time are urged to stay informed through LEGOLAND Florida’s website and official social media channels.
Impact of Hurricane Milton on Central Florida
Hurricane Milton has rapidly intensified since it first formed, quickly increasing from a Category 3 to a Category 5 storm. The National Hurricane Center has warned that the storm is expected to make landfall in the Tampa area on October 9.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency across multiple regions, including Polk County, where LEGOLAND Florida Resort is located. To facilitate safe evacuations, road tolls have been suspended throughout the state.

Other Theme Parks Responding to the Storm
The impending threat of Hurricane Milton has prompted other Central Florida attractions to take precautionary measures. Universal Orlando Resort and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay announced early closures on Wednesday, October 9, and full closures on Thursday, October 10.
While Walt Disney World Resort has indicated that it will remain open, the theme park has frozen Disney Park Pass and dining reservations for the days impacted by the storm.
