Okay, I know “we don’t talk about Bruno,” but can we talk about Disney’s Encanto possibly having a permanent presence in a Disney Theme Park?

Well, we don’t have to. Apparently, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Disney CEO Bob Chapek already have.

In an interview with The WarpMiranda said:

I talked to him[Chapek] and said, “I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life.” And that’s really exciting, but the other byproduct of all these characters is that there’s a lot more folks want us to explore and a lot that’s being explored in fan art all over world.

But which Disney Park would be most appropriate to add the Madrigal Family’s magical house? Disneyland? Disney California Adventure? EPCOT?

Several weeks ago, fellow modern Disney icon Josh Gad took to social media arguing for a Colombia Pavilion to be added to EPCOT’s World Showcase at the Walt Disney World Resort after visiting the temporary kiosk during the International Festival of the Arts. But, Miranda has his sites on Disneyland.

“Well, I took my kids to Disneyland for the first time pre-pandemic a few years ago,” he explained. “And we sat through The Little Mermaid thing five times in a row. That’s where my brain goes. It’s like, I want to go in and out of this casita and see those characters and see the house respond because that’s something Disney can do that no one else can do.”

While CEO Bob Chapek announced that Disney’s Encanto would become a whole franchise, the specifics of that development–like a Theme Park attraction–remain unclear. In the meantime, Encanto made an EPCOT appearance, and a Mirabel character sighting was added to Disney California Adventure.

We at Disney Fanatic will keep our ears to the ground, though, and will update our readers as more information on this story comes to light.

More on Disney’s Encanto

According to Walt Disney Animation Studios,

Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal-every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

The musical sensation features the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Carolina Gaitan, Diane Guerrero, Wilmer Valderrama, Rhenzy Feliz, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, and Adassa.

After its meteoric success on Disney Plus, Encanto will be returning to theaters on February 18.
