Lucasfilm Announces Major ‘Star Wars’ Anniversary Performances for 2027

As the Star Wars franchise approaches its 50th anniversary, the celebrations will extend well beyond cinema screens.

New Star Wars Live Performances Coming in 2027

Beginning in March 2027 is Senbla's regional tour of Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert. The production pairs a complete screening of George Lucas' original 1977 film with a live orchestral performance of John Williams' Oscar-winning score. Confirmed stops are Sheffield City Hall on March 21, Birmingham Symphony Hall on March 25, and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on March 27.

Then, from April 29 to May 2, UK audiences can also experience George Lucas's original trilogy with a live orchestra, including a four-day event at London's Royal Albert Hall. Star Wars Weekender will bring all three films (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) to the venue, with the London Symphony Orchestra performing Williams' scores alongside screenings.

The concerts are part of a wider anniversary year for the film that introduced the likes of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to audiences. Originally released as Star Wars in 1977, the movie was later retitled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and helped reshape science fiction filmmaking.

Other upcoming projects include Star Wars: The Experience – A Journey Through the Galaxy, which opens at Philadelphia's Franklin Institute on February 13, 2027.

A newly restored version of the original film also returns to theaters on February 19, while confirmed publishing projects include Star Wars: A New Hope – Triple Take, a graphic novel that retells the story through Luke, Leia, and Han, and Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles, which brings characters from both titular universes together.

Before then, S4C will premiere the Welsh-language dub, Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd, on Christmas Day 2026.
