Magic Kingdom Removes Classic PeopleMover Narration After Carousel of Progress Closes

A refurbishment at one Tomorrowland attraction has already created a noticeable change at another.

Following today's closure of Carousel of Progress, Disney has updated the narration aboard the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, removing the attraction's traditional mention from the ride's audio tour.

While the adjustment is relatively minor, it reflects Disney's ongoing effort to keep attraction experiences aligned with what's happening inside the park.

For decades, the PeopleMover has offered more than scenic views above Tomorrowland. Its narration acts as a guided tour, introducing riders to attractions throughout the land as they slowly circle Magic Kingdom's futuristic corner.

One of those announcements has always focused on Carousel of Progress.

Now that the attraction has temporarily closed for refurbishment, that portion of the script has disappeared.

Disney has handled similar situations before. Rather than advertising an attraction that guests can't experience, the company typically modifies ride narration until normal operations resume. It's a subtle update, but one that helps maintain consistency throughout the guest experience.

Carousel of Progress remains one of Magic Kingdom's most recognizable attractions despite opening decades ago. Its rotating theater, memorable soundtrack, and look at changing technology have made it a favorite for families seeking a relaxing break from the Florida heat.

The attraction also carries significant historical importance. Developed for the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair before eventually moving to Walt Disney World, it stands as one of the few attractions directly connected to Walt Disney himself.

Although Disney hasn't revealed exactly what this refurbishment includes, projects like this typically focus on maintaining show quality, updating technical systems, and preserving the attraction for future guests.

Because the theater rotates continuously throughout the day, regular maintenance plays a major role in keeping the experience operating reliably.

For PeopleMover fans, however, today's most obvious change isn't happening inside Carousel of Progress at all.

It's happening overhead.

Many longtime Disney visitors know the PeopleMover narration almost word for word after riding it over the years. That's why even a brief edit becomes easy to recognize. Social media quickly filled with comments from guests who noticed the missing reference shortly after the park opened.

The update serves as another example of how interconnected Tomorrowland's attractions really are. When one experience closes, it can affect nearby attractions in unexpected ways.

Fortunately, this change should only be temporary.

Once Carousel of Progress completes its refurbishment and welcomes guests again, Disney will likely restore the attraction's mention to the PeopleMover narration. Until then, riders can expect a slightly different audio experience during their relaxing journey around Tomorrowland.

It's a small detail, but one that reflects Disney's constant attention to the guest experience. Even something as simple as a narration track receives updates to match what's happening throughout the park, ensuring Tomorrowland continues telling the right story every day.
