Thousands Trapped as Floodwaters Take Over the Magic Kingdom in Florida

On July 1, 2025, a massive downpour hit Magic Kingdom Park, leaving many guests scrambling as floodwaters quickly filled parts of the park. Multiple visitors shared their experiences on social media, showing the chaos and wet conditions that followed.

Central Florida is no stranger to sudden weather changes, especially during the busy summer months before hurricane season. Anyone familiar with Disney parks in this region knows to expect afternoon showers that provide a bit of relief from the sweltering summer heat. But this time, the rain was far heavier than usual, and the park was unprepared for what followed.

Magic Kingdom Park is infamous for flooding during heavy rains. When prolonged showers strike, Disney cast members are often seen sweeping water into drainage grates, doing their best to manage the rising waters. But on this occasion, the situation seemed much worse, particularly in Tomorrowland.

TikTok user @michrobich91 shared a video capturing the rising floodwaters in Tomorrowland, facing the iconic Space Mountain and the nearby TRON Lightcycle / Run gift shop, Tomorrowland Launch Depot. “Not letting the rain stand in our way,” the Magic Kingdom Park guest wrote, showing visitors still trying to enjoy the park despite the wet conditions.

In the video, several Disney Park guests are seen trying to run for cover, ponchos in tow, doing their best to stay dry as the rain relentlessly pours down. However, there were also some younger visitors who made the best of the situation, playing in the puddles as if they were at a water park!

Another guest, @kates_takes_, posted a video showing multiple angles of the flooding, including an aerial shot from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. “It’s raining it’s pouring and magic kingdom is floooding! The rain came down so bad that the water was over my shoes,” the video’s caption read.

Although the Magic Kingdom is notorious for flooding, the water typically clears within a few hours. However, if you’re planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort soon, it’s always a good idea to pack a poncho. Even if there’s no rain forecasted, a sudden storm could catch you off guard, and you’ll be thankful to have it on hand.

  1. Just part of the Disney charm. Kids loved running through puddles and rain. No thunder or lightning .

  2. I wonder what happened in the utilidors. Do they flood since they are below the guest level ???
