With so many Disney movies and animated films out there highlighting Disney princesses like Rapunzel, Cinderella, the Little Mermaid Ariel, Tiana, Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty), and Belle (not to mention many other official Disney princesses in the Disney princess cast!), it’s easy to forget that there are actually real-life princesses out there in the world. But the princesses of Sweden are here to remind Disney fans that fairy tale-level royalty does still exist, and they’ve just released some new royal portraits to prove it!
Apparently, there is a real “Sofia the First” princess — in a way! This is Sofia, the wife of Prince Carl Philip. Princess Sofia actually brought back her pearl-adorned wedding tiara for her portrait — and with her name and dark brown hair, we think she looks like a mix between Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor!
Crown Princess Victoria is the daughter of Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf, and she is definitely reminding us of Queen Clarice from the Princess Diaries films (a regal character played by Disney Legend Julie Andrews) in this royal portrait. Crown Princess Victoria chose to wear a Napoleonic Cut-Steel Tiara for her portrait!
The Crown Princess Victoria also posed with her daughter, Princess Estelle, and King Carl Gustaf. Seeing a young princess like Princess Estelle might be a surprise for many Disney fans, but being a princess at a young age might sound like a dream come true for fans of Sofia the First or the Tangled Series (in which Rapunzel learns how to be an official Disney princess at a relatively young age)! Crown Princess Victoria and her daughter Princess Estelle are the king’s most immediate heirs.
This might be surprising, but Princess Madeleine (the King’s youngest daughter) actually lives in Florida with her family! She moved there in 2018, but got back into royal princess garb and the Modern Fringe Tiara for her new royal princess portrait. We have to wonder if she ever goes to Walt Disney World Resort!
One of the most “Disney princess” aspects of this particular princess’s life is her relatability; Princess Madeleine has told PEOPLE that she really is “like a normal mom” juggling three kids in between royal responsibilities.
“They wake me up and we fix breakfast together and the breakfast flies all over the place!” the princess told PEOPLE. Relatable royals who try to balance their desires and personal lives with their royal obligations? Sounds like Disney princess material to us!
