It’s been a long time coming, but Bluey is finally set to make her debut at Disney’s iconic theme parks and cruise ships.
The Rise of Bluey
The beloved blue heeler pup has become a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences worldwide with her imaginative adventures and relatable family stories. What started as a hit Australian animated series has now resonated with viewers far beyond its original target audience, winning the hearts of parents and older fans alike.
Disney’s connection with Bluey began when it acquired international distribution rights, bringing the animated series to global audiences via Disney+ and Disney Junior. This partnership quickly transformed Bluey into a household name, expanding her reach beyond Australia and embedding her into the fabric of global pop culture.
With such widespread popularity, fans have eagerly anticipated Bluey’s arrival at Disney parks. The excitement only grew earlier this year when Bluey and Bingo made surprise appearances at D23, fueling speculation that their theme park debut was imminent.
Bluey Heads For Disney Parks
Now, Disney has officially confirmed that Bluey and her family will soon be gracing Walt Disney World and Disneyland in 2025. Additionally, Bluey and Bingo will join Disney Cruise Line voyages departing from Australia and New Zealand in January for meet-and-greets, games, and a lively dance party.
The excitement surrounding Bluey doesn’t stop at theme parks. Disney and BBC Studios, along with Ludo Studio, recently announced that a Bluey movie is scheduled for release in 2027, with Disney handling distribution. The film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, adding even more anticipation to the growing Bluey franchise.
Disney’s decision to feature Bluey, a third-party character, in its parks and cruise ships is a rare and notable move. Traditionally, Disney showcases its own intellectual properties, so welcoming an outside character like Bluey is a significant departure. However, Disney has occasionally embraced other franchises, such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Star Tours, long before acquiring Lucasfilm and the Muppets. Bluey’s presence at Disney parks will surely be an exciting addition for fans.
Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, shared his enthusiasm for Bluey’s theme park debut: “Bluey has become a household name for families around the world, and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways. We can’t wait to watch our youngest guests and their families make memories with Bluey in our parks and on our cruises.”
Nicki Sheard, CEO of BBC Studios brands and licensing, also expressed her excitement: “The Heeler family’s debut at Disney Theme Parks and Cruises really is the icing on the cake for what has been an exceptional year for Bluey. We are committed to creating the very best-in-class experiences for our fans and can’t wait to open the doors to families next year.”
Fans have already had the chance to meet Bluey at Alton Towers’ CBeebies Land in the UK and experience Bluey’s World in Brisbane, Queensland, where visitors can immerse themselves in Bluey’s world of play. Now, Disney is bringing the magic of Bluey to even more fans around the world, making 2025 an exciting year for Bluey lovers everywhere.
