Characters have been making their way back to the Walt Disney World Resort and we couldn’t be happier about it! While meeting characters at Walt Disney World is still a modified experience due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to see more and more character sightings return to the parks.

The latest character sighting to return is Mickey Mouse in Magic Eye Theater in EPCOT. Currently Guests can meet Mickey inside the Magic Eye Theater (which typically houses the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival) located adjacent to the Imagination Pavilion.

As with other character sightings around the Walt Disney World Resort at this time, meeting Mickey in this location is currently modified. Guests can greet Mickey individually, however he is behind a rope and distanced a couple of feet back from Guests. Individualized interactions are now taking place at this location, however as with the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort character sightings at this time, hugs and autograph signings are currently on pause.

The Mickey Mouse sighting at Magic Eye Theater does have PhotoPass Cast Members at the location, so unlike other recently opened character meets Guests seeing Mickey will be able to take advantage of using a PhotoPass photographer to get everyone into the photo or to download the photo via Memory Maker on the My Disney Experience app if they have purchased the add on option.

Masks are also required to be worn while meeting Mickey at this location as it is indoors, and while they are subject to change, Mickey’s current hours are 11 am to 6 pm. We recommend confirming hours with the My Disney Experience app during your next trip.

Earlier this year, Disney quietly changed the name of “character meet and greet” to “character sighting” to imply distancing. We believe when the name is changed back we will see the return of “normal” character experiences at Walt Disney World.

Either way, we are excited to see Mickey back in EPCOT and cannot wait to say hello on our next trip!
