Millennium Falcon Feature Removed From Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Florida

A weeks-long mystery surrounding the exterior of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios has quietly reached its conclusion.

On March 16, scaffolding and beige scrim appeared on the back of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run structure in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The attraction stayed open throughout, and Walt Disney World Resort made no public statement about the work. The project appeared to involve areas of the exterior that crews couldn't reach from the ground.

By April 8, construction was already over. WDWNT reported on Wednesday that the scaffolding and scrim had been removed, with no discernible changes to the Millennium Falcon structure or the surrounding area. Whatever work was done was performed behind the scenes.

Walt Disney World Resort has still not acknowledged the project publicly. The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction remains open at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The low-key maintenance comes at an interesting moment for the attraction. Walt Disney World Resort has announced that Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will receive an entirely new mission storyline tied to The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026), debuting May 22 — the same day the film opens in theaters.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge as a whole is also preparing for a more significant transformation. Both Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park are set to split their Batuu lands between two timelines, keeping half rooted in the sequel era while transitioning the other half back to the original trilogy.

The change paves the way for characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Darth Vader to appear in both Star Wars lands. Disneyland Park kicks off that change on April 29. Walt Disney World Resort has not announced an exact date for its timeline shift.
