Black mold or mildew is spreading across queue walls at Slinky Dog Dash in Disney's Hollywood Studios, marking the latest visible contamination issue at Walt Disney World Resort.
WDWNT documented the problem on February 16, showing extensive mold patches on a blue Slinky Dog mural that forms part of the outdoor queue for the Toy Story Land roller coaster. The photos reveal widespread contamination along surfaces that thousands of Disney Park guests touch daily.
Child-Height Contamination Raises Concerns
The mold sits low on the wall, within easy reach of children who naturally run their hands—or press their faces—against queue barriers during long waits. The affected mural also displays cracked paint or decals and completely peeled sections, damage that may result from mold deterioration or guest tampering of already-compromised surfaces.

Slinky Dog Dash opened in 2018 when Toy Story Land debuted at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The outdoor queue's constant exposure to Florida‘s humid climate creates ideal conditions for mold growth, requiring vigilant maintenance to prevent buildup.
Pattern of Mold Issues Across Property
This isn't an isolated incident. Walt Disney World Resort cleaned black mold from a partially-submerged gondola at “it's a small world” in Magic Kingdom Park just this past weekend. That contamination persisted for an extended period before removal, though its location prevented direct guest contact.

The recurring mold discoveries at different parks suggest a systemic maintenance challenge rather than isolated oversights. Florida's climate, combined with water features, outdoor queues, and high humidity, creates environments where mold thrives without aggressive prevention measures.
Walt Disney World Resort has not addressed the mold problems publicly or explained what steps it's taking to prevent future contamination across its four theme parks.
