More than 30 years after its release, The Muppet Christmas Carol continues to gain more popularity with each passing holiday season. Once a relatively modest success in 1992, the film has now become a full-blown seasonal tradition for many, streaming on Disney+ and returning to theaters for special events, while inspiring new collectibles every year.
Disney recently released not one but two festive advent calendar sets—a plush collection and a pin set—further proof that there’s no slowing down the film’s enduring popularity.

Now, that nostalgia is getting a loud, modern makeover. The popular pop-punk rock band Fall Out Boy has recorded a rock cover of one of the film's songs, “It Feels Like Christmas”, performed in the film by the Ghost of Christmas Present. The new version features guitars and drums but keeps the heartwarming “spirit” of the original song intact.
But why does this matter beyond your holiday playlist? Because next year, Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida will debut a Muppets-themed revamp of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. With the Aerosmith branding being retired, the ride is expected to embrace a louder, zanier energy befitting Kermit and friends and the rock band Electric Mayhem.

That makes the timing of Fall Out Boy’s single particularly interesting—could it find its way into the attraction’s soundtrack? It is, after all, a rock song and a Muppet song.
The new track could hint at a Muppet Christmas Carol tie-in. While a full-time inclusion on Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets is unlikely, the idea of a seasonal event—complete with lights, carols, and several references to the film—would be a sure-fire hit.
As Disney continues to modernize its classic properties, the holiday spirit of the Muppets might just find a new home in Orlando next year. But we'll just have to wait and see.
